Happy 2011, Attune Foods blog readers!
My name is Anne and I write the food and fitness blog fANNEtastic food. I started my blog in 2009 as a way to inspire others to lead happier, healthier lives through nutrition and exercise, and I post once per day, including recipes, fitness tips, running training plans, quick and healthy meal ideas, and everything in between! After 6 years of working in offices, I just went back to school this fall for a Masters of Public Health in Nutrition at UNC-Chapel Hill – by late 2012/early 2013 I will hopefully be a Registered Dietitian (RD)!
I spent my holiday break from school traveling around Europe with my family (our first family vacation in about a million years – check out my blog for some amazing pictures from our travels), but now it’s time to get back to real life. School is starting back up, my kitchen is stocked with fresh fruit and veggies, whole grains, and lean protein, and I’m ready to start training for my next big adventure: my second half marathon in March!
As a new year begins, it’s the perfect time for many to revisit their healthy living goals and make changes for the better. I’m not really one for New Year’s resolutions – I prefer to take the approach of going with the flow and seeing where life takes me – but I do begin a new year with the general aims to continue to live healthfully, nourishing my body with whole, energizing foods, to challenge myself physically, to strive to be my best both personally and professionally, and, of course, to have a blast.
I eat healthy, whole foods (like Uncle Sam cereal!) not because I feel obligated to, but because they make me feel my best! One of my favorite things to do (as evidenced by many of the recipes on my blog) is to “healthify” recipes – for example, using Greek yogurt or applesauce in place of oil or butter in muffins, whole grains instead of refined, hummus instead of mayonnaise, etc. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring, I promise!
Same with exercise – I look at it not as something I have to do, but something I want to do. It’s my time to take care of myself and de-stress, and that’s never something that should be a burden. Besides running, I also love yoga, hiking, swimming, and pretty much anything that involves the outdoors! Sometimes there’s nothing better than a nice long walk in the sunshine.
2010 was a big year for me – leaving the office world and moving from Washington, D.C. to Chapel Hill, NC for grad school, running my first half marathon, creating all sorts of new healthy recipes and quick meal ideas for my blog, and taking a number of personal and blog-related trips. I have a feeling 2011 will be even more exciting, and I can’t wait.
What are your healthy living goals for 2011?

[...] As one of their ambassadors, I’ll be writing a monthly guest post for the Attune Foods blog, helping facilitate monthly Twitter chats with the other ambassadors, and generally helping to build awareness about their brand (which includes Uncle Sam and Erowhon cereals, Attune probiotic chocolate bars, and more). I am being compensated for my participation in the program, but as always, anything I say about them on here is my opinion and mine only, and I wouldn’t have signed up to help promote them if I didn’t think they were awesome. Check out their site to see the other great bloggers participating, and check out my first guest post on their blog today about my 2011 Healthy Living Goals! [...]
